Politics Trip to the Houses of Parliament

By 24/09/2014 No Comments

Although we arrived late, due to bad traffic, it fortunately meant that we had our own personal guide. With just half an hour to visit both chambers, there was plenty of information to take in. It was very interesting to see the inside of the House of Commons, which is much smaller than you think, and to consolidate our understanding of its key features. We then marvelled at the extravagant interior of the House of Lords with its huge gold leaf throne for the Queen’s visits. After the tour, we had a group discussion with Iain Stewart, MP of Milton Keynes Constituency, and had the opportunity to ask questions and utilise our knowledge. All three of us asked a question about his role as a backbencher, his views on democracy and his views on the Scottish referendum. It was a very informative and enjoyable day.

Thank you so much for an amazing day.
