Houses
At Heathfield, every pupil is a member of one of our four Houses, fostering a strong sense of belonging, community and friendly rivalry throughout their time at the School, from Year 7 to Sixth Form.
Our House system is organised across all year groups, bringing together pupils of different ages within the same House. This encourages lasting friendships, mutual support and collaboration, while giving younger pupils the opportunity to learn from older role models and enabling senior pupils to take on leadership responsibilities.
Across the academic year, Houses compete in a wide variety of sporting, creative, academic and charitable activities. These events are an important part of school life, helping pupils build confidence, teamwork, resilience and leadership skills, while creating some of their most enjoyable and memorable experiences at Heathfield.
Pupils wear their House badge with pride and represent their House in competitions throughout the year. To strengthen family connections within the School, siblings are automatically allocated to the same House.

Pupil Leadership
The House system provides numerous opportunities for Sixth Form pupils to develop their leadership skills. House Captains, supported by the Head of House and a team of senior pupils, play a key role in planning and delivering House events throughout the year.
From organising competitions and leading rehearsals to mentoring younger pupils and encouraging participation, House Captains gain valuable experience in teamwork, communication and event management. Sixth Form pupils also take responsibility for preparing entries for major House events such as House Panto, Music and Drama competitions, helping to shape performances and inspire House spirit.
Competition Throughout the Year
Throughout the year, pupils earn merits and House points through academic, sporting and creative competitions and achievements. Every point contributes towards the termly House Championship, culminating in the presentation of the winning House Shield at Celebration Assembly.
