Lower and Upper Sixth Theatre Studies visit the West End to see ‘The Jungle’

As enrichment for the A Level content, the Lower and Upper Sixth Theatre Studies students paid a visit to the West End to see the Young Vic’s transferred production ‘The Jungle’.

This highly emotive piece about the refugee camps in Calais was both challenging in its content and an outstanding example of how theatre can transport you into the world of the play. Set in a café in the camps, the action tookplace all around us and the girls really felt part of the piece, with some moments played out within an arm’s length of them.

“This was a truly moving piece which allowed the girls to reflect on some very current cultural issues, whilst delving into some really interesting ideas for staging their own work back at school” – Mrs Lucy Halcrow, Subject Leader of Drama and Theatre Studies
