As it got later into the afternoon Form I became a little itchy to head back to their dorms to perfect themselves for their evening social with Papplewick. Form V spent hours straightening hair and applying nail vanish to the junior girls and the First and Second Forms all looked very glamorous for the event. Papplewick were greeted by a super excited bunch of girls who chatted animatedly in the Assembly Hall as we waited for the second minibus load of boys to arrive. Conversation flowed around the tables about alleged famous relatives, namely ‘One Direction’ and ‘super human twins’ before heading to the Sports Hall for ‘Minute to Win It!’ style games which saw rubber bands flying at targets, ping pong balls balanced on strawberry jam sandwiches, cotton wool on the ends of noses and marshmallows eaten by the ton. After the madness of the games everyone moved through for a spot of dancing ably led by school captains, Ella, Camilla and Alice before the boys departed. On Sunday the senior school was treated to the latest new craze in friendly combat sports, ‘Archery Tag’. Players hid behind large inflatable bunkers and using special foam-tipped arrows teammates attempted to eliminate the opposition. Similar to paintball although without the mess and slightly less bumps and bruises! At the same time the junior school went to Yellowfoot Lodge in Eton in which they scaled the large climbing wall and took the vertical pole challenge by climbing the 40ft pool to then balance on a 50cm square platform and then jump into mid-air or lean back and simply let go. An action packed weekend was had by all.
