The school’s annual summer concert was a resounding success, with items to appeal to all ages and musical tastes. The varied programme spanned centuries of music, from an accomplished opening performance of Henry VIII’s Greensleeves, confidently delivered by Forms I and II (accompanied by the Heathfield Orchestra), through to Manu’s sensitive presentation of the emotional Adele number When We Were Young, with vocal and instrumental items in between. Liv’s poignant interpretation of Out of my Head by Kooman and Dimond contrasted with Issey’s impressive rendition of Ruggero Leoncavallo’s joyful, energetic Mattinata and Minty’s dramatic, fast-paced vocal workout of Don’t Rain on my Parade from the 1960s musical Funny Girl.
Sophie and Frankie ably displayed their mastery of piano skills in Terminal 2 and Lowside Blues respectively whilst Olivia impressed with her delicate and accomplished playing of Nigel Hess’s theme tune from Ladies in Lavender on her violin.
Form III Choir and ukulele band treated the audience to a spirited delivery of Count on Me by Bruno Mars, and the final vocal item was the Senior Choir’s lively singing of Hail, Holy Queen from the ever-popular Sister Act.
This uplifting evening was brought to a close by the popular Heathfield Band who sent the audience out with Take on Me (A-ha) and Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger ringing in their ears.
Congratulations go to all the wonderful performers and thanks to Mrs Dance and Mrs Jackson for their hard work and expertise, and to the audience for their support and encouragement.
