The Emeritus Award is one of the Federations of International Lacrosse’s highest honors…

On 12 July at the opening ceremony of the Women’s Lacrosse World Cup at Surrey Sports Park, we are delighted that our Director of Sport, Wendy Reynolds was bestowed one of the FIL’s highest honors in recognition of her life work in Lacrosse that has benefitted hundreds of participants over the ages. The presentation was made by Stephen Taylor, FIL Women’s Officiating Chair.

A tireless supporter of the sport of Lacrosse, Wendy has undertaken several roles from player to coach to umpire. It is as an umpire that she has particularly distinguished herself. She earned her international badge in 2004 and since then has been an integral part of the world scene, serving as an umpire in 2003, 2005, 2007 where she umpired the Gold medal match, 2009 and 2013 where she served as the reserve umpire for the gold medal match.

In 2011, Wendy transitioned to another service role, being appointed to the FIL rules committee as well as serving as a technical officer at the 2015 World Championships, and in 2017 serving as the head mentor and assessor for the FIL Rathbones Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.

In addition to the award, Wendy was invited to say the Oath during the opening ceremonies on behalf of the Officiating Team.

Result wise, Megan Whittle scored an incredible golden goal winner to beat Australia 10-9 and secure England the Bronze medal with America winning Gold and Canada Silver.
