In October the Music department held the Music Captain’s Concert which was organised by Francesca, Liv and Mima in the Lower Sixth. The theme of the evening was opportunity with donations from the audience going to the Young Sounds charity. This charity helps fund music lessons for young people who might not otherwise have access to them, creating new opportunities through the power of music.
The evening had several instrumental solos including Olivia on violin, Esther on harp, Stella on drums, Francesca on piano and Mima on flute. It also involved impressive vocal solos from Freya, Liv and Issey who accompanied herself on the piano. The Heathfield Choirs performed selections from their recent repertoire, while the band and orchestra opened and closed the concert. Forms I and II joined the orchestra for a lively performance of The Hall of the Mountain King, playing cellos, violins, xylophones and glockenspiels.
Overall. it was a very successful event and has so raised almost £300 for Young Sounds. Please visit them at https://www.youngsounds.org.uk/donate/ if you would like to contribute further.
