Heathfield Girls Celebrate Record A Level Success

EIGHT in ten girls at leading independent girls’ school Heathfield in Ascot achieved all A*-C grades in their A level exams this summer with half gaining all A*-B grades.

In a record year for the Berkshire school, over four in ten (42%) of the exams taken were also awarded the top A*-A grades with 91% of the exams taken scoring an A*-C grade.

All students (100%) achieved A*-B grades in English while 100% achieved A* in Further Mathematics, 86% were awarded A*-C in Mathematics and an outstanding100% of candidates recorded all A*-A grades in every single modern foreign language: French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.

In the Sciences, in the year which saw the opening by Lord Robert Winston of the school’s state-of-the-art STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) facility, three-quarters of students gained all A grades in Chemistry and over two-thirds (67%) all A grades in Physics with a third achieving A* grades in Biology.

Two girls impressed with six A* grades and 2 A grades between them, with one confirming a place to read Medicine at Keble College, Oxford, and another to read Mathematics at University College, London.

Another student achieved a rare 100 per cent full marks in her Art and Design Photography A level, securing a place at Newcastle University in the process.

Over six in ten girls scored at least one A*-A grade in their exams (63%) while over two-fifths (46%) of the girls achieved at least two A*-A grades in their tally of A Levels.

An outstanding 75% of A Level exams taken at Heathfield were awarded A*-B grades. Heathfield School Director of Studies Marina Gardiner Legge, who becomes Head of Heathfield in September, said: ‘These outstanding results which see our school’s A level performance improve year on year pay testament to the hard work of staff and students. I look forward to guiding Heathfield onwards as its academic performance continues to flourish.’

Record GCSE Success at Heathfield School in Ascot

RECORD numbers of students have achieved A*-A grades in their GCSEs at leading girls’ school Heathfield in Ascot with a string of outstanding individual performances.

Well over four in ten of the exams taken at the Berkshire school were awarded the top A*-A grades (47%) while one in three of the candidates scored an impressive 3 A* grades and above each in their string of GCSEs.

The results mark a double celebration as they come just a week after girls at the school scored a record number of top grades at A level (43% of the exams taken at A*-A).

Four girls achieved an outstanding tally of A*-A grades between them at GCSE including incoming Head Girl Agatha who was awarded 8 A* grades and 2 As, Gabi – 4 A* grades and 6 As and Emma – 2 A* grades and 8 As.

Twins Eva and Sophie scored 19 GCSEs between them including 6 A* grades and 9 As.

Over four-fifths of the exams taken in total at Heathfield were awarded A*-B grades (83%). Two-thirds of candidates at the Berkshire school achieved at least 4 A*-A grades each and all girls recorded at least five A*-C passes each.

Meanwhile, exemplary subject performances came in the Sciences and Maths – 100% A*-B in Biology and 100% A*-C in Chemistry, Physics and Maths and in Science Core and Additional Science. In Modern Foreign Languages, three-quarters achieved an outstanding A*-A grade in French, 100% A* in Russian and nine in ten A*-B in Spanish.

Other stellar performances came in History – 100% A*-B; Religious Studies – 76% A*-A grades; Geography 94% A*-B; Music – 100% A; English Language 97% A*-C; English Literature 100% A*-C and Business Studies 100% A*-C.

Director of Studies Marina Gardiner Legge, who becomes Head of Heathfield School next month, said: ‘At Heathfield, we have been driving forward the girls’ academic performance as a priority and these results demonstrate just how successful that drive is and, of course, are testament to the dedication of our talented team of staff and the hard work of our students.’
