Heathfield’s Art Department recently had the pleasure of hosting Ascot Racecourse and Colours Immortalis to deliver a fantastic Fashion Design Workshop.

Our students learnt about three key industry skills – fabric selection, design and marketing. The designs that students created on the day have been entered into the prestigious design competition run by Ascot Racecourse and the winning design will be brought to life by an expert designer.

Following careful and considered judging by Daniel Fletcher (Creative Director of the Royal Ascot Handbook) Emma and Camilla, both Form IV students, received highly commended recognition for their designs. Daniel Fletcher said that their designs stood out for their creativity, originality and interpretation of the brief.

Emma, Camilla and their families are now invited to attend Royal Ascot’s Racing to Zero Summer Mile Family Raceday in July, where they will be able to view their designs in all their glory.

Well done to all our students who took part. I was impressed with their maturity and focus throughout the workshop, and they did Heathfield and themselves very proud.
