The School production of Sweet Charity proved a triumph amidst the closure of UK schools due to Covid-19

Against impossible odds, the performances of Sweet Charity went ahead at the end of March, with both Louise (Form V) and Tansy (UVI) playing a night each in the title role. Everyone pulled together to make the show happen, despite daily early departures of girls due to travel restrictions.

Tansy, having given a wonderful portrayal of Charity on Wednesday, stepped into another leading role on Thursday to support Louise. Flavia and Tansy (UVI) were the hostesses of the Fandango Ballroom and the wonderful Tabby (LVI) learnt a role in three hours to ensure the show went ahead.

With outstanding performances from Phoebe and Poppy (UVI), Tamara and Tilda (Form V) as the gentlemen of the piece, our cast became a real family, with even the staff taking to the stage in the final performance.

Miss Kong conducted the 11-piece orchestra and played piano, while Miss Thiel took on a small role and even Mrs Halcrow ventured on stage at the last minute.

The performances were a real labour of love and a shining example of our magical community here at Heathfield, Sweet Charity will be a musical everyone involved will never forget.
