National Schools’ Lacrosse

This is the highlight and culmination of the season where teams see how far they have progressed over the season, each with their own goal and target to achieve. The first day’s play is all about performing against teams of all standards with Saturday’s groups being decided by the previous day’s final positions. For the 1st team the aim was to make it to Division 2 again and try to surpass last year’s quarter final defeat.

The team secured a place in Division 2 and on the Saturday lost to Sherborne, and by one goal to Loretto but beat Coloma 5–0. This drew us against Stowe in the knock out stage: number two seeds and eventual winners of the Division. Despite a valiant effort the team equalled last year’s achievement and final placings.

The 2nd team were really up against it on both days and although they did not win a match their team spirit, enthusiasm and support for each other never wavered.

For me, these two days really encompassed and epitomised sport in all its shapes and forms: the highly competitive and the delight of seeing girls who stepped up to the challenge, ‘stretched those elastic bands’ and achieved things that back in September they would not have thought possible.

I would like to thank all the girls for their hard work and total commitment – you did Heathfield proud.
