Heathfield Sixth Formers secure places at some of the most prestigious universities both at home and abroad. There is a unique story behind each and every application, and we pride ourselves on the highly personalised support we offer to ensure every student reaches their ideal destination. The journey starts with a ‘Beyond Heathfield’ Evening for both students and parents in Year 12. Seminars and sessions are run on various aspects of the application process, both by the Head of Sixth Form and external providers including a number of local university outreach officers. The programme is supported by the use of UniFrog and a dedicated Head of Careers.
In recent years, our students have achieved outstanding results across both academic and vocational pathways, gaining entry to a diverse range of institutions. These include leading Russell Group universities such as Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Imperial College London, Leeds, LSE, Manchester, Newcastle, Southampton, and Warwick, as well as the University of the Arts London (UAL).
For those choosing to study internationally, recent cohorts have secured coveted places at premier colleges across the US, Europe, and Asia. Notable global destinations include ESMOD (Paris), the IE Business School in Madrid, the École Hôtelière de Lausanne, and The New School, Parsons in both New York and Paris. While the US remains our most popular overseas destination, it has been particularly exciting to see students successfully branch out into competitive programmes in Greece and Italy.
It is always with immense pride when we hear our students’ chosen paths on Parents’ Day each year. The rich breadth of courses demonstrates our commitment to moving away from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach, empowering them to follow their own distinct passions. Reflecting Heathfield’s exceptional reputation in the creative subjects, we maintain established links with some of the world’s leading arts institutions. This has enabled our students to gain places at acclaimed drama and art schools including LAMDA, RADA, the Glasgow School of Art, Parsons (Paris and New York), and various UAL colleges, including Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion. Similarly, our STEM and humanities leavers have gone on to study an incredibly wide array of disciplines—ranging from Medicine, Veterinary Science, Biochemistry, Medical Biosciences, and Optometry, to Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics & Economics (MORSE), Psychology, Physics with Theoretical Physics, Real Estate, Geography, and Marketing & Management.
Our ethos of small school, big opportunities ensures that by the time students leave Heathfield Sixth Form, they are fully equipped with the confidence and resilience to thrive in an ever-changing world.
