There has been a real buzz around school on Friday afternoons as we have launched our new Co-Curricular Friday P6 Skills Programme. students have embraced the opportunity to step outside the traditional classroom and take part in a wide range of clubs designed to develop skills, interests and experiences beyond the curriculum.
The programme currently offers 15 different clubs, with all students from Years 7–12 involved. The clubs have been carefully designed around three key areas: Life Skills & Wellbeing, Academic Enrichment, and Creative & Technology. There is something for everyone, with students developing a fantastic range of skills through activities such as Yoga, Practical Life Tools, Chess, Escape Room Club, British Sign Language and the CREST Award, alongside a variety of other exciting opportunities.
The aim of the programme is to develop skills beyond the classroom, giving students the opportunity to discover new interests, challenge themselves and develop valuable skills that will support them both now and in the future. From problem-solving and communication to creativity, independence and teamwork, the Friday P6 programme provides a different and exciting way for students to learn.
The feedback from students so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and there is a real sense of excitement and energy around school at the end of the week. It has been fantastic to see students engaging so enthusiastically with activities outside their usual academic lessons and making the most of the opportunities available to them. The programme will continue to evolve, with students having the opportunity to select different clubs each half term. This will allow them to experience a broad range of activities throughout the year and continue to build their skill sets, confidence and interests.
