Heathfield celebrates exceptional GCSE results

There were smiles all round at Heathfield School today as students celebrated an outstanding set of GCSE results, with more than 80% of grades exceeding students’ nationally standardised targets.

The results are a strong reflection of the progress students make at Heathfield, where small classes and a highly personalised approach to learning enable every student to fulfil their potential.

Overall, 64% of all grades were awarded at 9–7, with an impressive 40% of grades at 9–8 (A*).

The breadth and depth of success was showcased across the cohort: 100% of students achieved a pass in both Maths and Science, while more than 40% of students achieved the highest possible grade 9 in English Literature, History and Spanish.

Among the standout individual performances:

• Jayden, an Academic Scholar, achieved an exceptional eleven Grade 9s
• Molly, an Art Scholar, achieved an impressive four Grade 9s and five Grade 8s
• Maddie, going on to study the International Baccalaureate, achieved 100% Grades 9–7

The Value Added across the board once again exceeded an average of a full grade per subject per student – and we are immensely proud of all of their accomplishments. Their achievements are testament not only to their hard work and determination, but also to the supportive and personalised education they receive at Heathfield.

Celebrating A Level success

Congratulations to all our Upper Sixth students on their A Level results. The majority of grades were awarded at A*–B, with 100% of the cohort securing at least one A*–B grade.

The breadth of academic achievement is particularly impressive, with students studying Art, Classical Civilisation, English Literature, Photography, Politics, Psychology, Spanish and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) achieving 100% A*–B grades.

These results demonstrate both the academic ambition of Heathfield’s students and the breadth of interests they are encouraged to pursue. This diversity is reflected in their exciting university choices, with degree subjects ranging from Medicine, International Finance, Politics and Marketing & Management to Fine Art and Fashion Contour.

Alongside studying at leading Russell Group universities, Heathfield students are also taking their next steps on an increasingly international stage, with destinations including Madrid, New York, Paris, Rome and Texas.

Behind the many statistics are stories of students who have thrived and given their all at Heathfield, following different pathways that have enabled them to pursue their passions. Esme joined the school in Year 7, and after achieving A*BB in Art, Religious Studies and Sociology, she will continue her creative education at the University of the Arts, London, studying Fashion Contour.

Martha joined Heathfield in Year 9, and after achieving A*A*A in Psychology, Art and Biology, will take up her place at Durham University to study Marketing & Management. Emilia joined Heathfield in the Sixth Form, and after achieving ABB in Spanish, Drama and Art, is looking forward to her next chapter studying Fashion Design in Madrid.

These stories and the breadth of destinations and degree choices reflect the individual aspirations of Heathfield students and the school’s commitment to enabling each young person to identify and pursue their own academic and professional pathway.

• Average value added of 1.84 grades higher than targeted on entry

Congratulations to all our Year 11 students on their outstanding GCSE results received today.

Nationally predicted grades were exceeded across the board, with students achieving on average well over a full grade higher in every subject, with more than a third of all grades awarded as 9 – 8 (A*) grades.

All Heathfield’s top performers are continuing into Sixth Form, where they will build on their GCSE success with tailored mentoring, bespoke timetabling and exceptional opportunities to lead and excel. Among this year’s outstanding achievers are:

• Lily with an impressive 100% grades 9-8, who will be continuing her academic journey with A Level Maths, Economics and History.
• Flo who’s also celebrating success with 100% grades 9-8, has chosen to pursue A Level Economics, French, English and Spanish.
• And Zoe achieving 100% 9-8s including eight grade 9s and will be studying Chemistry, English and Maths.

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our A Level students today. These excellent results reflect their hard work, talent and determination, and the vibrant supportive Heathfield community which enables every student to thrive.

The majority of A Level grades were awarded at A* – B, with more than one third of all grades awarded A* or A. Multiple subjects achieved 100% A* – A grades including subjects within the disciplines of Maths, Languages and Art.

These excellent results mean students have secured their preferred places at top Russell Group universities including Bath, Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Edinburgh, Imperial College, London, Leeds, Manchester, Royal Agricultural University, University College London (UCL), and University of the Arts, London. The leavers will be studying a diverse range of subjects from Biochemistry, Applied Medical Sciences and Physics with Theoretical Physics, through Marketing and Management, Business, Media Communications and Fashion, to Geography, English, Psychology and Sports Management.

It’s the individual stories that bring results to life, from Aster achieving two A*s and two As, taking her to study Physics with Theoretical Physics at Imperial College London, or Martha, part of the student leadership team, off to study Psychology at Exeter, to Bella, off to Durham to study Business and Management, each student is well prepared and excited for their next steps.

In addition to excellent grades, all Upper Sixth students have contributed greatly to the life of the school during their time at Heathfield. Whether mentoring younger students, demonstrating impressive leadership skills, captaining sports teams, performing in plays and concerts, they have all developed the key skills and character that will ensure their future success.

Congratulations to all our GCSE students!

GCSE students’ hard work, drive and commitment, is truly reflected in this year’s outstanding results. Students are celebrating having surpassed their predicted grades by a wide margin, with a value added score of 1.32 higher than the predicted grades in each subject. This was reflected in great results across the board, including 30% of all grades awarded at 9 or 8, and half of all grades awarded at 9-7.

The exceptional GCSE results include students taking Additional Mathematics Qualification, an examination above GCSE standard, in which they achieved over 85% at grade A, and Form IV students who took language examinations early, achieving 100% of grades at 7-9, with 94% achieving grade 9.

From Additional Maths to Art, French, Classical Greek and Chinese, this year’s GCSE cohort at Heathfield have had the opportunity to choose from 15 optional subjects in addition to core GCSEs such as Maths, English and Science, reflecting the school’s dedication to providing a personalised education that allows students to pursue their individual interests and passions, whilst benefitting greatly from small class sizes.

Heathfield students celebrate exceptional A Level achievements 

Sixth formers’ talents continue to shine

Congratulations to all our A Level students for their fantastic achievements. The results, spanning 17 diverse subjects, have students heading to top UK and international destinations of their choice including Bristol, Durham, Exeter, King’s College London, Newcastle, the Royal Veterinary College London and the prestigious Glasgow School of Art. Students will be studying subjects from Biomedical Sciences, Economics, Law, Medicine and Politics to Anthropology, Art, Computer Science and Music, to name but a few. Others have chosen international destinations in the US, Greece and France.

Some of the stand-out students who excelled this year, include last year’s head girl, Doddie, who not only demonstrated her outstanding leadership qualities, but was also very involved in sport, drama and music. Doddie is heading to Greece to study Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessalonica, having come top in the Greek National Medical exam, competing against 330 other candidates. Previous deputy head girl Sonya is continuing to follow her passion and study Music at Kings College, London, and Ciara with two A*s and an A is looking forward to beginning her Law degree at Bristol.

Heathfield applauds students’ GCSE results

Congratulations to all our Year 11 GCSE students for their hard work, drive and commitment which is truly reflected in this year’s results.

Students have achieved highly across a broad range of subjects with many fantastic personal successes. On average, students achieved a value added score of almost one grade higher than their predicted grades in each subject. We are so proud of them all.

• Sarah, an Academic and Drama Scholar, achieved 100% 9-7 and will be studying Science and Maths A Levels at Heathfield in preparation for her application to study Medicine at University.
• Sasha also gained 100% 9-7 grades whilst rehearsing for the lead in the next Heathfield musical production and playing first team sport.
• Martha, Drama Scholar, achieved 100% 9–7 grades alongside playing a lead role in the drama production last term and actively participating in sport and the Fashion show.

From Art to French and Classical Greek to Chinese, this year’s GCSE cohort at Heathfield have had the opportunity to choose from 15 optional subjects in addition to core GCSEs, reflecting the school’s dedication to providing a personalised education that allows students to pursue their individual interests, whilst benefitting greatly from our small class sizes.

With GCSEs under their belt, the majority of these ambitious Heathfield students are now looking forward to moving on to our Sixth Form, based in our recently completed £2.5m Cadogan Sixth Form Centre.

Heathfield students celebrate exceptional A Level achievements 

Sixth formers’ talents continue to shine

We are thrilled to be celebrating yet another year of exceptional achievements at A Level with an incredible 57% of students heading off to their Russell Group university of choice. With a 100% pass rate, 33% secured A*-A and nearly 80% gained A*-B, all with over half a grade improvement in value added. A Levels spanning 16 subjects from Maths and English to Psychology and Japanese were successfully completed.

This year, three students will be heading for Durham to study Geography, Philosophy, Politics & Economics and Psychology; four are destined for The University of Exeter to study History of Art and Psychology; and two are going to Newcastle to study Marine Biology and Sociology. Other courses being taken include Biological Sciences, Genetics, Fine Art, and Communications & Digital Media at Loughborough and Royal Holloway. Six are planning a gap year, and two are heading for higher education abroad.

Stand out busy students who have excelled include: 

1. Musical and sporty previous Head Girl secured 3 A*s and is heading off to Durham University to study Psychology.

2. Award-winning Amateur Photographer of the Year and Schools Editor for Talk Education secured 2 A*s and an A and is off to the University of Exeter to study Psychology. 

3. And North-East-England-bound student who was so keen to secure a place to study Marine Biology at Newcastle University, she successfully completed her A Level Biology in just one year. 

The school provides students with a multitude of opportunities and events to inspire its students across a diverse range of careers. Highlights from Heathfield’s comprehensive outreach initiatives this year included visiting expert speakers, independent learning and enterprise projects, the excellent Primavera Fashion Show, PSHE workshops, and a structured and diverse careers programme.
