From the very beginning, this production has been rooted in the idea that theatre allows us to explore what it means to be human. Beneath the humour, colour and spectacle, our students told a story of belonging, acceptance and the courage to be unapologetically ourselves. They embraced these themes with sincerity and maturity, reminding all that what makes us different is also what makes us powerful.

The commitment shown throughout the rehearsal process was exceptional. Students gave their time, energy and creativity generously, supporting one another at every turn, rising to challenges and growing not only as performers, but as an ensemble. It is this spirit of collaboration and kindness that truly defined the production – and the heart of Heathfield.

Thanks to our dedicated backstage and technical teams for their work over the technical rehearsal period; to the band, whose musicianship brought the world of Shrek to life; and to the staff who supported every step of the process. Together, they created a production that truly embodied Heathfield’s ethos of Small School, Big Opportunities.

Most importantly, we celebrate our students. Their courage, humour and willingness to let their freak flag fly made this production something very special indeed. These are the moments that stay with them, experiences that build confidence, empathy and lifelong memories. What audiences experienced was not simply a joyful and vibrant fairy-tale, but a piece of theatre rich in meaning, purpose and heart.
