Education: Teaching & Learning

Our Teaching and Learning programme is pivotal to the successful delivery of the curriculum at Heathfield School. It is underpinned by detailed knowledge of the latest research in independent learning, differentiation, assessment, quality of feedback and target setting.

It is a fundamental tenet of the School that the full realisation of each girl’s potential will only be possible in an environment which is stimulating and challenging, yet thoroughly supportive. We give due recognition to the need for coaching and mentoring, in a highly structured and well-resourced environment.

By ensuring that the tasks we set the girls offer appropriate learning opportunities in all Key Stages, we strive to raise academic performance, bolster personal development and promote life-long learning.

A robust structure is in place to ensure that ideas and information relating to teaching and learning are shared and effectively disseminated across the teaching staff. The Director of Studies responsible for all matters relating to the academic curriculum meets weekly with the Heads of Faculty who then convey information to the teachers within their faculty.
