Heathfield Summer Camp

Activities for Girls aged 7 to 15, July/August

Heathfield School has run its own summer courses for over 40 years. In 1993 we added a Day Camp for local girls and then expanded this to include a Boarding Camp. This is a perfect way for girls to try boarding for a week, either just for the fun of the experience or if they are considering going to a boarding school one day.

We offer the following options at Summer Camp:

  • Day Camp is for local girls and runs from 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday and lunch, snacks and drinks are included. We offer both an early morning breakfast option and late stay option.
  • Boarding Camp runs from Sunday late afternoon until the following Saturday morning. Girls board for a minimum of a week or more with some girls choosing a combination of day and boarding weeks.
  • Overseas Camp is open to a limited number of girls from abroad who are fluent English speakers.

Programme

All Summer Campers participate in the full daily programme; they are grouped according to age and move together from one activity to another. Our teachers and skilled specialist activities staff offer girls a fun-packed and educational range of activities which varies throughout the four-week period, balancing creative, artistic and sporting skills which includes:

  • Arts, Crafts and Floristry
  • Cookery and Hair & Beauty
  • Drama, Music and Dance
  • Sports and  Games including archery, trampolining, kayaking and swimming
  • Shows and Exhibitions for parents each Thursday afternoon
  • Private tennis coaching and horse riding (at nearby stables) are available at an extra cost

For boarders, evenings and weekends are for whole school activities with Summer School and Summer Camp girls joining together. During the four weeks, girls take part in the following:

  • The Dance and Fashion Show, International Evening and Talent Show
  • Discos, English country dancing or Scottish dancing, fancy dress parties and karaoke
  • House Sports competitions and quizzes, lively debates and cultural events
  • Trips to theme parks, cinema, bowling and other places of entertainment and interest

Pastoral care is first class; the school nurse and housemothers supervise the girls’ welfare and an excellent staff:student ratio ensures high levels of supervision.
