I’m so proud of their achievements.”

A Level results

We are delighted to be celebrating the superb achievements of our A Level students, who were applauded by Sarah Rollings for ‘the exceptional determination, resilience and adaptability they displayed during the lockdowns and beyond’. She said, “Despite the challenges presented by Covid, their results evidence their unwavering focus during this difficult period. Students had never before sat a public examination due to their GCSE exams being cancelled during Covid.”

Outstanding results were achieved by students, with over half of grades awarded at A* and A. Nearly three quarters of all grades awarded were A* to B.

Standout performances included those from German student Maya who joined Heathfield with very little English in Year 9 for one year, but loved it so much that she stayed on until the end of the Sixth Form. Her English improved exponentially during her stay, and she scored 5 grades higher across her results than her nationally standardised predicted Value Added Scores1. Today she is celebrating A* and As in Chemistry, Maths, Further Maths and Physics. Maya is looking forward to moving on to St Andrews University to study Pure Mathematics.

Zahra is also celebrating today having achieved Value Added Scores 4 grades higher than her standardised predictions, with A, A* and B in Art, English Lit and Psychology, as well as an A* in her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Today is the culmination of the girls’ efforts throughout their school careers as well as the support from our exceptional and dedicated staff, and rightly deserves celebration and recognition for all they have achieved.

Once again we are immensely proud of the resilience, tenacity and integrity shown by our A Level students and staff amid the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their hard work and positive outlook resulted in 86% of our students achieving grades awarded at A* to B and 94% meeting their first choice university offer.

Impressive results like these demonstrate consistent commitment to academic excellence. Building on Heathfield’s continued success, the school’s initial analysis projects a value-added score of +0.75, marking a significant increase in the expected attainment of the pupils in each subject they take and firmly placing Heathfield as one of the leading independent schools in the region.

GCSE results

Congratulations to all our students on achieving an outstanding set of GCSE results. The robust and rigorous procedures in place at Heathfield in assessing grades ensures that students can be justifiably proud of their results.

Each student attained, on average, a grade two points higher than their Year 11 Indicator System (Yellis) score, which is used to predict how likely they are to perform in GCSEs. This is a clear reflection of the continued hard work, dedication and adaptability of both our students and our staff.

Our carefully tailored blended and remote learning provision also helped those international girls who were either unable to return to school or remained at Heathfield throughout, due to travel restrictions, attain excellent results.

In addition, 100% of our students secured A*-B for Foundation Project Qualifications (FPQs) in Year 9 and 100% of students taking subjects a year early in Year 10 achieved Grade 9.

“For the past 18 months students have contended with lockdowns, mask rules, social distancing and so much more. I wholeheartedly congratulate all our students and staff for their indomitable work ethic and for the excellent grades they have subsequently secured” – Sarah Wilson, Headmistress.

Their hard work resulted in 73% of grades being awarded at A* to B, of which over 30% are A*/A, and nearly 95% A* to C – surpassing last year’s performance. As these young women embark on the next chapter of their lives, they take with them an education that extends far beyond their academic grades – they are equipped with self-belief, a sense of individuality, and a desire to make the world a better place.

From science, to languages, psychology, business and fashion design, Heathfield students have had the opportunity to study a vast array of A level subjects, reflecting Heathfield’s commitment to discerning and developing every girl’s unique talents to enable her to excel.
